The Windows

Okay, so I guess there was some mix up this morning. I'm not sure on details, but the window guys didn't get to the house until 1:00.

So, we only got three windows in, and a houseful of non-installed ones.

They have a yellow primer on them, so we need to paint them ourselves, but we need to paint all the trim around the windows anyhow. It has a great film on all of them that we can remove after we paint them. Pretty cool.

Using the "hand test," where I put my hand up to the window, I can't feel cold air pouring in around the windows, so they are better than what we have now.

Bad news of course is that we are going to be living without window coverings and no furniture within 4 feet of the windows. Looks like we are back to a disorganized household.

Ooh! OOOOoooh!

I'm so excited I could pee myself. We are getting our new windows tomorrow!!!

I don't know how to take pictures of new windows, but we will try.

So, excited.

Our First Christmas

It is our first Christmas here at TO(M)H, our first Christmas as a married couple and, of course, our first Christmas in the house.

It is also my first time trimming the tree. CJ and I spent a few hours tonight doing it.

Here's what it looks like with the lights, I should have put more on the bottom.

Solutions

We have issues at TO(M)H. Those issues are storage. Basically, we have very little. Currently, this is most noticeable in our kitchen. Every cabinet is completely full. We have our good dishes stacked on top of our fridge (an accident waiting to happen.)

The counters hold food and appliances. Some things have found a home on the floor, or the window sill, or the basement. All the liquor and cookbooks are in the dining room.

We solved some of the problems with a pot rack. At least it opened up space for the blender, food processor, etc. in our one under countertop cabinet. I totally LOVE our potrack. It makes my life easier, and it looks cool.

Recently we solved our recycling/herb growing problem with a thingy from Ikea's Children's Department.

Yesterday we had delivered another solution.

(please ignore the unfinished wall/mantle, that's our next project)

Isn't it cool?

We can move some of the glasses, barware, and odds and ends into it. We moved the liquor and wine out of the dining room. We can condense down to one cabinet for dishes and have more room for the important things, like food.

One more piece of furniture, something to hold our good dishes, and we will have a functioning kitchen. I just can't wait.

Update, I Guess

So, we haven't written a lot here. Mostly, because we haven't done anything with the house. We have just been enjoying it.

Imagine that, enjoying our house.

We've had people over. We've been cooking. We've been watching TV. We've been plotting our renovations.

I just wanted to confirm we aren't dead.
